AZMEC (Association of Zambian Mineral Exploration Companies) is a member-based industry association that represents companies and stakeholders involved in mineral exploration in Zambia. Established in 2008, it advocates for a conducive and transparent environment for exploration and investment.

AZMEC was founded in 2008 to create a unified voice for Zambia’s mineral exploration sector.

Membership is open to companies or individuals engaged in mineral exploration or supporting services, including geological consulting, drilling, legal advisory, and equipment supply, among others.

You can submit a membership application online or email us directly. Once approved, you’ll receive an invoice once your application is approved.

Large Scale $5,500/Year

Associates and Small Scale $2,200/Year

Individuals $110/year

AZMEC holds council and general meetings, working group sessions, and participates in industry events regularly depending of activities in the industry. Members also receive updates and opportunities via email and a private platform. Meetings can be virtual, physical or hybrids

AZMEC regularly engages with the Ministry of Mines, and other regulators to provide technical and legal feedback on policies affecting exploration. It submits position papers and participates in public consultations.

Yes. AZMEC has submitted inputs on reforms to the mineral licensing system, cadastre processes, and tax and environmental regulations affecting junior exploration companies.

Yes. AZMEC organizes and co-hosts events such as the Explorers’ Forum, Zambia Breakfast Meeting at the Mining indaba, technical workshops, and networking sessions during major mining conferences like the Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka.

Some events are open to non-members, especially public forums. Others are member-exclusive or require special invitations.

Yes. AZMEC collaborates with the University of Zambia and Copperbelt University to provide internships, career talks, and networking opportunities for students in geology, mining, and related fields.

Students can attend public AZMEC or reach out for mentorship and career guidance.
